The week of the National Specialty is packed full of events. The main events are the AKC events featuring our versatile breed competing for AKC titles in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally , Hunt Tests and Scent Work events. This year we are holding our first AKC Scent Work Trial, where our springers get to show off their skill at using their noses.

We will also have a full line up of events to showcase our most successful dogs. The Top Twenty Competition and Dinner shows off the top Conformation and Performance dogs with a formal dinner and competition.  The National kicks off Tuesday night with a Puppy and Veteran Sweepstake Spectacular, where puppies and veteran dogs who have excelled will be showcased in a ring competition.

A National Specialty is the perfect place to participate in educational events. Many of the experts of our breed are gathered in one place for 5 days.  There is a lot of knowledge available to tap into. It starts with the Judges Education Seminar. This event is open to any National participant, and is a wonderful way to learn about the Breed Standard from the experts. The Judges Education committee also sponsors a PARTs Competition, where you can get a constructive critique of your own dog’s conformation.  Later in the week, The Springer Foundation sponsors a Breeders Showcase. You can put your hands on the breeding stock of our breed and talk to the breeders about their dogs.

ESSFTA is proud of our Juniors.  We offer several opportunities for the Junior to participate. We also offer coaching for handling skills for Juniors of all ages.

Finally – ESSFTA strongly supports the Springer Rescue groups who work tirelessly to provide a better life for less fortunate springers.   The Rescue Parade on Saturday showcases many of the springers who have been rescued and placed in new forever homes.  There are several opportunities for you to show your support thru Rescue fundraising events.
